Old Age Security (OAS), GIS and the Allowances
Old Age Security is paid on exactly the same days as CPP. The Guaranteed Income Supplement and the Allowance for the Survivor arrive in the same deposit, so if you get more than one of these you see one payment a month, not several.

Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (formerly the GST/HST credit)
The CRA pays this one four times a year, at the start of January, April, July and October. The January and April 2026 payments went out under the old GST/HST credit name; July and October are the first under the new one. Provincial top-ups that ride along with it, like the BC climate action tax credit or the Ontario sales tax credit, arrive on the same day. A separate one-time GST/HST credit top-up was paid on June 5, 2026.
Paid on

Monday, January 5
Thursday, April 2
Friday, July 3
Monday, October 5
You don’t apply for it. Filing a tax return every year, even with no income, is what keeps it coming.

Canada Child Benefit (CCB)
The Canada Child Benefit is paid monthly, on the 20th or the last business day before it, with December paid early. Provincial and territorial child benefits are combined into the same payment.

Amounts are recalculated every July from the previous year’s tax return, so a payment that changes in July is normal.

If your payment is late

Canada.ca asks you to wait five to ten business days after the payment date before contacting the program. Most late payments come down to one of five things.
If the money isn’t there
- Count 5 to 10 business days from the date above before you call. Cheques take longer than direct deposit.
- Check the account you gave them. A closed or changed account is the most common reason a deposit bounces.
- Check your address with Service Canada (CPP, OAS) or the CRA (Groceries benefit, CCB) if you get cheques.
- For the Groceries benefit and CCB, make sure last year’s tax return was filed. No return, no payment.
- Then call: Service Canada at 1-800-277-9914 for CPP and OAS, the CRA at 1-800-387-1193 for benefits.

It was renamed the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit in July 2026. The quarterly dates and the way you qualify (filing a tax return) did not change. A one-time GST/HST credit top-up was also paid on June 5, 2026.

Are the 2027 dates out yet?
Not as of September 30, 2026. Service Canada and the CRA usually publish the next year’s dates late in the year. This page is updated the week they appear.
